Job Description Job Description Description: SUMMARY: The
Recovery Support Nurse works as an integral part of the Clinical
Team. The Nurse Supervisor will perform, but is not limited to, the
following duties: supervises Medication Specialists in all
residential programs, performs ongoing assessment, intakes,
evaluations, triage, teaching, inductions, stabilizations,
monitoring of consumers in treatment program. Assist the
prescribers with the care of the consumers within the treatment
program, and facilitate support and services provided at other
settings. This position requires flexible scheduling consisting of
1st and 2nd shift. The agency has the right to change shifts based
on the needs of the organization. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Position
Specific Duties: Assume overall responsibility for residential
program medication policies and procedures including the
supervision of assigned personnel. Collaborates, communicates, and
meets with treatment team and other practice care team staff as
needed and required. Provide training to staff to ensure proper
procedures are being followed. Oversight and monitoring of customer
medications. Coordinate individualized treatment plans. Conduct
confidential, quality assessments that are gender and culturally
responsive and trauma informed. Assess and interpret treatment
outcomes. Assume overall responsibility for Quality Assurance of
various medication records. Assist with non-scheduled nursing needs
during/throughout the shift. These requests vary from assistance
with walk-ins, triage, stabilizing an acutely ill patient until the
ambulance arrives, administering a nebulizer treatment or other
stabilizing interventions. Works with the pharmacies and the team
in obtaining medication orders, prescriptions, refills, prior
authorizations and communication as needed. Actively participate in
policy/protocol development for the program. Provide ongoing
management, education, and support of consumers in all phases of
treatment including; medication teaching, monitoring, pill counts,
observed dosing, and medication refills. Exhibits non-judgmental,
empathetic and supportive approach when communicating with
consumers/families and staff Collaboration with licensed,
prescribing physicians and pharmacy. Use clear, concise, and
effective written and oral communication; and comply with
departmental policies when sharing/documenting relevant consumer
care data. Ability to climb three flights of stairs to deal with
emergencies. Ability to respond to emergency situations by placing
calls to Fire, Rescue, Police, and Medical, etc. Administrative
Tasks: Complete all required documentation in a timely manner.
Perform program recordkeeping and filing, and organize vital
documents. Participate in required supervisions, staff meetings and
trainings. Provide consultation and collaborate with outside
providers. Participate and cooperate in any investigations
conducted by internal and external agencies. Ability to use a
computer including inputting information into the electronic health
record. Compliance Requirements: Remain awake during your shift at
all times. Attend all mandatory trainings and update all licenses
and certifications. Adhere to program/project/department
requirements and services. Comply with the established protocol for
medication management/distribution. Follow all reporting guidelines
by deadlines including the completion of a Confidential Incident
Report. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The Nurse must perform each
essential function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be

the knowledge/skill and/or ability required. Current MA RN license
and CPR certification. Minimum of three years of experience in
substance abuse field with community health experience preferred.
Health Assessment skills and coordination and delegation skills
necessary. Meet continuing education requirements to satisfy
regulatory, accreditation, and agency requirements and ensure
continued professional growth and knowledge of current trends. Good
working knowledge of computers, electronic health records and data
collection. Requires valid driver’s license due to business-related
