Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Labor and Delivery - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 07/28/2025 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, days, nights - Employment Type: Travel RN - Labor & Delivery (L&D) Position: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor & Delivery Facility: Albany Medical Center (AMC) Specialty: RN - L&D Position Type: Travel Contract (13 Weeks) Projected Start Date: 07/28/2025 Shift: Days (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) Job Summary The Travel RN - Labor & Delivery (L&D) provides expert nursing care to expecting mothers, laboring patients, and postpartum women in a high-acuity hospital setting. This role requires Epic EMR proficiency, strong fetal monitoring skills, and the ability to manage high-risk obstetric cases. Key Responsibilities Clinical Duties - Monitor fetal heart tones (FHM) and interpret EFM (electronic fetal monitoring) strips. - Assist with vaginal deliveries, C-sections, and emergency obstetric procedures. - Administer Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, and other high-risk OB medications. - Manage postpartum hemorrhage, preeclampsia, and other obstetric emergencies. - Provide newborn resuscitation (NRP) when needed. - Educate patients on labor techniques, breastfeeding, and postpartum care. Documentation & Compliance - Epic EMR documentation (required). - Adhere to AWHONN guidelines and hospital protocols. - Maintain FHM or AWHONN certification (mandatory). Team Collaboration - Work closely with OB/GYNs, midwives, neonatal teams, and anesthesia. - Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and emergency drills. Required Skills & Qualifications Education & Licensure - Active RN license (NY or compact state). - BLS, ACLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program). - Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) Certification (National Certification Corp) OR - AWHONN Intermediate FHM (issued within last 3 years). - (Proof of AWHONN class registration accepted at submission, but certification required before start.) Experience - Minimum 2 years of recent L&D experience in a hospital setting. - Epic EMR proficiency (non-negotiable). - Experience with high-risk OB, C-sections, and fetal monitoring. Other Requirements - Scrub Color: Navy blue (strict dress code). - No local candidates (check AMC’s ineligible counties list). - Must be willing to work 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM). Schedule & Contract Details - Assignment Length: 13 weeks (07/28/2025 – 09/23/2025). - Shift: Days (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM). - Weekends/Holidays: As per unit needs. - Floating: Possible (confirm during interview). Work Environment - Hospital: Albany Medical Center (tertiary care facility). - Unit: Labor & Delivery (high-volume, high-risk OB). - EMR: Epic (required experience).
